Softball Equipment List

Essential Equipment (Required to Play)

These items are required by the league and necessary for safe participation:

  • Glove – 8U and 10U start with 11” or 11.5” and move up to 12” or 12.5” for 12U.
  • Batting Helmet – Each player needs a batting helmet with a facemask. There are a couple available for use during games but it is recommended that you have your own.
  • Fielders Mask - all players in 10U and 12U are required to wear a fielders mask in the filed (recommend the metal mask over the plastic style). You can purchase on from Dicks: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/search/SearchDisplay?searchTerm=softball%20facemask
  • Softball Cleats – Rubber cleats (metal cleats are not allowed for youth).
  • Black Softball Pants.
  • Softball Bat - Little League Softball requires that all bats must be marked as a “softball bat and include a USA or ASA certification mark. This article has good advice on how to choose the right bat: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/protips/sports-and-activities/softball/buy-youth-softball-bat

**There are several team bats that players can borrow.**

Provided by the League:

  • Practice Shirt & Jersey
  • Navy Socks
  • Hat/Visor

Recommended Gear

  • Equipment Bag – Backpack or wheeled bag to carry gear.
  • Batting Gloves – For grip and hand protection.
  • Water Bottle – Hydration is key.
  • Long sleeve Cold weather undershirt - the beginning of the season can be chilly.
