New scoreboards at Mill River
Two new scoreboards at Mill River have been dedicated to the memory of Charlie Read. The scoreboards were financed by an anonymous donation in Charlie’s memory. Charlie played with our youth programs and for Amherst High School before dying tragically of epilepsy as a teenager. He was known to have a deep love of the game, to be a wonderful teammate and to have an abiding admiration for Jackie Robinson. Amherst Baseball remembers him fondly. Jim Balderston represented the donor at the dedication, which was also attended by Charlie’s parents, Arleen and Clif Read.
